Planning for a Successful New Year of Social Media

2024 is right around the corner! As you start preparing for the new year, it’s a great time to take a step back and reconsider your strategy for social media. 2023 came with a lot of changes, and not everything that has worked in the past is going to work going forward. If you’re not sure what your social media plan should be, here are some key takeaways from the last year that might help!

1.       Be authentic.

One of the most important trends on social media right now is aiming to be authentic, genuine and personable. While using AI might seem like a nice way to speed up the process, audiences are MUCH less trusting of institutions whose messaging sounds robotic. Don’t focus on making super high-quality, polished content – instead, focus on messaging that sounds genuine to your brand and showcases the real people inside your organization.

2.       Evaluate your platforms.

The social media landscape changed DRASTICALLY throughout 2023. TikTok dominates video content more than ever, X (formerly Twitter) has fallen out of favor with users and advertisers alike and Meta has continued to dominate the greater social media landscape with Facebook and Instagram. With all these platforms coming, going and evolving, it’s important to know which platforms to focus on. Take a step back, look at how your content is performing on each platform and adapt your strategy accordingly.

3.       Work with a professional.

Whether it’s a brand ambassador or a social media manager, having someone on your team who knows the ins and outs of social media is invaluable. This could include paying for influencers in your industry to post about your brand, hiring an influencer to run a campaign on your account or even just hiring a social media manager to take full control of your brand’s accounts. If you want to offload your social media accounts but don’t know where to start, check out the image.works Digital Marketing Resource Library! There, you can read about how we help create content, post on your behalf and more.

4.       Don’t stress.

The most important thing you can do with social media is stick to your plan. Just because you’re not seeing instant success doesn’t mean your plan isn’t working. Take a breath, stick to your plan and make minor adjustments as you go!
