Communication is key. It’s what makes the world go round – especially in the world of modern-day marketing! How you craft your message is arguably the most important part of selling your product or service. The word choice, tone of voice and organization all combine to attract the target audience and set you apart from the rest. At image.works, senior copywriter Molly Kant writes the majority of the copy for our internal marketing materials, as well as for her many clients whom she tends to on a daily basis. Molly and the rest of our creative writing staff dedicate their time to ensuring they can be the voice our clients need.
Describe what you do on a day-to-day basis.
On any given day, you can find me at my desk brainstorming concepts, writing headlines and body copy, proofreading, or chatting with clients and coworkers about project goals.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
For me, the most exciting part of my job is seeing proofs of my projects after the designers have worked their magic. It’s so thrilling to see text that was once in a Microsoft® Word document (all in boring black and white) suddenly come to life! But the most rewarding part of my job is definitely the client feedback we received. It’s incredibly gratifying to know that a client is happy with our work, or that we helped them reach their marketing goals.
What brought you to image.works?
After graduating college, I initially got a job as a technical writer. But I very quickly realized that creative writing was what I wanted to do. Thankfully, I got hired at image.works and now get to spend every day doing the kind of writing that I love!
Favorite place to travel in Wisconsin?
My favorite place to travel to in Wisconsin is Door County! Every summer, my husband, son and I spend a long weekend there with my side of the family, and it’s become such a fun family tradition. We like to try new restaurants (along with old favorites!), check out the little shops, go on a boat ride and, of course, get ice cream!
Do you have a secret talent or something about you that would surprise people?
I can type 138 words per minute.
What is your biggest achievement to date?
When I was in kindergarten, I made a goal to one day write a book and get it published. I’m proud to say I’m now a published author of 29 nonfiction books for children (all published under my maiden name). I still have to pinch myself whenever I see the books with my name on the front cover!
What is the biggest challenge you’ve had to overcome in your life?
I was diagnosed with diabetes when I was nine years old. It changed my life in many ways, but it’s also taught me some incredible life lessons – to focus on positives instead of dwelling on negatives, to be proud of the things that set you apart and not to let anything get in the way of achieving your dreams.
