Employee Spotlight: Audrey Meis

At image.works, we value kindness, hard work and creativity. Audrey Meis exemplifies everything IW stands for and more! Audrey is the fearless leader of the copy team and a phenomenal copywriter. When she’s not in the office, you can find her at a barre class, hiking at a state park, trying new restaurants in Madison or spending time with her fiancé, Eric.

Describe what you do on a day-to-day basis.
As a copywriter, I’m working with clients daily to develop copy for all kinds of campaigns. I could be working on piecing together a 20-page annual report one day and concepting headlines for paid social ads the next. I get to write for so many different platforms, and I love it! The variety keeps the job fresh and exciting.

As the copy manager, I’m making sure my team has the tools they need to be successful. I run copy team meetings, discuss company goals with the leadership team and strategize with our internal marketing team.

What brought you to image.works?
After college, I knew I wanted to pursue copywriting, and I really loved the idea of living in Madison. I submitted my materials to an image.works’ job posting and the rest is history!

How has image.works influenced you/helped you grow?
This company has helped me gain so much confidence as a writer – and as an all-around professional and person. I’m surrounded by supportive, caring colleagues, and the environment is so uplifting that I’ve felt comfortable enough to ask questions, take chances, and even make mistakes – which has helped me grow to be more capable and confident.

Favorite place to travel to in Wisconsin?
Argh, this is tough! Anywhere along the Great Lakes in the summer. There’s nothing like packing a cooler and spending a hot day along the shores of Lake Superior or Lake Michigan.

What is the most “Wisconsin” thing about you?
I grew up on a cranberry marsh in rural central Wisconsin. Our house was set back in the boonies (seriously, we had a mile-long driveway), but it was amazing to grow up surrounded by nature.

Secret talent or something about you that would surprise people.
While most of my dancing happens in the kitchen these days, I did take classical ballet lessons from age three through high school. And I actually have a minor in dance!

The most admirable characteristic a person can/should have.
For me, kindness is everything. The entire world is in year three of a pandemic, and you just never know the struggles someone is enduring. Being nice and showing compassion for others goes a long way.

If you could learn a new skill, what would it be?
I’d love to learn how to figure skate.

What is the coolest/most important trend you see happening today?
The importance of prioritizing yourself. I’m no master myself, but I love that setting boundaries (at work, with friends and family) has become a hot topic of conversation. Your time is precious, and it’s okay to say “no” to something if you don’t have the capacity, the time or the desire to do it.
